Federation of New Zealand Aquatic Societies

FNZAS: What is it?

The FNZAS is a group of aquarist/aquarium societies that are dedicated to the improvement of the aquarium and fishkeeping hobby. Any society with kindred interests is eligible to join.

FNZAS: What does it do?

Disseminates knowledge throughout New Zealand by means of a quarterly magazine, the Aquarium World, through which any member of an affiliated society can have published their experiences, opinions and points of view on matters relating directly to the hobby.
Liaises with government departments from time to time on subjects such as "extended trading hours", "Import restrictions", "Quarantine procedures". "Noxious fishes proposed regulations" and more.
Publishes a Year Book to foster the social aspects of the hobby by enabling club members from all over the country to know of the existence of other hobbyists.
Holds an Annual Conference to allow affiliated members to get together and discuss matters relating to running the Federation, and concerning the hobby in general.
Encourages the improvement in the standard of fish kept as pets by promoting "Fish Shows" and Publishing "Judging Standards".
Provides a library of videos, slides and tapes for hire to member clubs.
